On August 1, Falabella, the largest retailer in Latin America, acquired Linio, Latin America’s largest e-commerce platform. It is understood that the acquisition clearly stated that Linio will retain its brand and work team, Falabella will provide the company with the ability to provide retail itself, including logistics, store network, access to its suppliers and product classification, customers Knowledge and media facilities, payment methods, etc.
Linio was established in Mexico City in Latin America in 2012. It has been developed to date in eight Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America - Chile, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama. In 2015, China opened its international cross-border business in the Asia Pacific region.
Falabella is the leader in Latin America's retail industry and has more than 100,000 partners in Latin America. Therefore, the acquisition of Linio will be combined with Falabella online and offline to provide a better shopping experience and a wider range of goods for local consumers in Latin America.
The five-month acquisition plan was finally implemented in August, while Farabella acquired IKEA stores in Chile, Colombia and Peru. According to reports, in order to acquire Linio and accelerate the planned logistics and technology investment, retailers will propose to their shareholders a capital increase of 843,000 shares (about 800 million US dollars).
